Westport Police say Dayvon Jordan was taken into custody in connection with an active warrant for his arrest on Friday, Sept. 27.

Police say they initiated a traffic stop on Post Road in Westport on Saturday, March 2 around 9:45 p.m.

The vehicle had been stopped by a Fairfield officer in connection with a be-on-the-lookout broadcast which sought it in reference to an investigation into the passing of counterfeit bills in their town, according to police.

During the stop, officers allegedly recovered suspected counterfeit currency as well as three merchandise bags from two Westport businesses.

According to police, Jordan is one of four suspects in the vehicle believed to have passed counterfeit currency in Westport on the same day.

A follow-up investigation and review of surveillance footage revealed that Jordan had entered a store in Westport, selected the merchandise and completed the purchase using counterfeit currency, police say.

Jordan was charged with first-degree forgery, sixth-degree larceny and first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny. He was released on a $5,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court for arraignment on Monday, Oct. 9.
